The Witold Lutosławski Society - honorary patron of ILYO
We are thrilled to announce that the ILYO project has been given the honorary patronage of the Witold Lutosławski Society in Warsaw. The Society was founded in 1999 as the initiative of influential artists associated with our patron and aims to promote his music around the world. Among the honorary members of the Society you will find among many others such big names as Antoni Wit, Krystian Zimerman and Anne Sophie Mutter.
Among the founding members of the Society were both musicians and prominent artits related to Lutosławski. They were: Andrzej Bauer (current President of the Society), Michał Bristiger, Julia Hartwig, Ryszard Kapuściński, Kazimierz Kord, Zygmunt Krauze, Jan Krenz, Józef Patkowski, Ewa Pobłocka, Jerzy Tchórzewski, Andrzej Wajda and Antoni Wit.

The Society currently has nearly 80 members, 11 of whom are honorary members: Mario di Bonaventura, Heinz Holliger, Kazimierz Kord, Jan Krenz, Anne Sophie Mutter, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Heinrich Schiff, Andrzej Wajda, Antoni Wit, Krzysztof Zanussi and Krystian Zimerman .

Since its inception, the Society has been publishing books and scores, organizing festivals and educational concerts, as well as exhibitions, workshops and conferences. It was the Society that initiated the first edition of the International Lutosławski Youth Orchestra in 2013. Taking the entire project under the honorary patronage is a great distinction for us and a token of appreciation for our project. We are very proud that starting from the 11th edition of the ILYO project, we will play under the wings of the Witold Lutosławski Society.
