ILYO conquers Berlin! Tremendous success in the German capital!
Long-lasting, enthusiastic ovations from the audience in the famous, great hall of the Berlin Konzerthaus, encores and a sea of fantastic music – ILYO's debut in Berlin, at the world's largest festival of youth orchestras – Young Euro Classic, turned out to be a spectacular success.
It's been a long but exciting day. In the morning, our young musicians left the Philharmonic in Szczecin to go to the German capital for a unique concert in the prestigious, great hall of the famous Konzerthaus Berlin. It is the very place where for 20 years Young Euro Classic – the biggest and oldest international festival of youth orchestras, has been held. This year, the International Lutosławski Youth Orchestra was among the invited orchestras. It was a great honor for us, but also a huge challenge. Preparations for this exceptional concert lasted for days. The practicing musicians could be heard in the rehearsal rooms from morning to evening. Lots of work, hours spent on perfecting all the details. We knew that our young instrumentalists were ready musically, but will they cope with the stress?
They did it seamlessly! They managed not only to cope with the huge pressure, but also to play the very ambitious musical material! Perfectly harmonized and concentrated, they provided the German audience with so many musical emotions that they simply did not want to let ILYO off the stage. The Berliners were enthusiastic about the extremely difficult Cello Concerto by Witold Lutosławski, in which the solo part was performed by the phenomenal Marcin Zdunik. The concert ended with one of the greatest hits of 20th century music – Béla Bartók's Concerto for Orchestra. The outstanding maestro Ayyub Guliyev led ILYO through all the pitfalls of these ambitious pieces. After the concert, which was a bit longer due to many encores, many listeners said to us that ILYO's concert was the best concert at this year's edition of Young Euro Classic festival.
We would like to remind you that the next concert of the International Lutosławski Youth Orchestra with the participation of the same great conductor and outstanding soloist will take place on Friday, August 19 at 19:00 in the golden hall of the Philharmonic in Szczecin. Tickets are available HERE and at the ticket counter.
For those of you who cannot be physically with us, we encourage you to watch the free online broadcast on the YouTube channel of the Philharmonic in Szczecin.
We hope to see you soon!
